How We Research

How we research products.

Our process is research-driven and documented:

  1. Define the criteria. Before looking at any product, we decide what matters for the category — performance, durability, ease of use, value — and how we’ll weigh them.
  2. Survey the field. We map the credible contenders: expert reviews, manufacturer specs, and long-term owner feedback.
  3. Read the owners. Customer reviews in aggregate reveal reliability patterns no spec sheet shows. We look for recurring praise and recurring complaints.
  4. Compare head-to-head. Shortlisted products are compared on the same criteria, in the same format, so differences are visible.
  5. Publish and maintain. Guides are re-checked regularly. When a better pick emerges or a product is discontinued, the guide is updated — and dated.

What we don’t do:

We don’t invent test results, fabricate ratings, or claim hands-on testing we haven’t done. When we do get products in hand for direct evaluation, we’ll say so explicitly in the guide.
